San Luis Obispo, Morro Bay, and Other Adventures

June 24 - 26, 2016

A short but much needed vacation weekend in California. San Luis Obispo is a great mid-point between San Francisco and Los Angeles. Meeting friends from LA, a group of us drove down the 101 and stayed in Morro Bay from Friday to Sunday.

The amazing pool at Hearst Castle. This thing is incredible—you should go see it. It's under the tennis courts and sunlight comes in through the ceiling.
Hearst Castle is a weird place. It kinda looks like William Randolph Hearst was just a billionaire hoarder. There are all sorts of antiques, artwork, and trinkets but none of them make any sense together. There is no logic to the way things are organized—that drove me nuts. Still, it's a pretty interesting place and definitely worth seeing.

Morro Bay has an old, abandoned factory right on the edge of the water. It's covered in graffitti and probably not going anywhere anytime soon. It's bizarre but definitely makes for interesting pictures. On the actual beach, there is a massive rock, which you can see above on the left. The combination of three smokestacks next to Morro Rock make this a pretty unique place.
